Insurance for laptops is extremely important. The very nature of a laptop, it’s transportability, makes it extremely susceptible to abuse and theft.

With Worth Ave Group, your laptop is covered against not only theft, but water damage, broken screens, and any other type of accidental damage.

Our laptop insurance policy rates are the lowest you will find anywhere and our coverage is superior to our laptop insurance competitors as well.

Maybe you have a warranty on your laptop? Well, that’s a waste! And if you purchased a 3rd party laptop warranty then you REALLY missed the boat. A typical 3rd party laptop warranty covers nothing more than manufacturer defects. And guess what, that warranty is void after just one repair claim! It’s not like that when you buy our laptop insurance!

Worth Ave Group offers multi year discounts on their laptop insurance. Buy three years of insurance and you’ll get a really nice discount. And if you file a claim, don’t worry, you are still covered for the duration of your policy in case something else happens.

What if your laptop is damaged beyond repair? Don’t worry! With our insurance, we’ll cut you a check for a new one. And when you replace your old laptop you just send us the serial number of your new laptop and BOOM, YOU’RE COVERED!

And think about this: You can get 2,000 dollars in laptop coverage with zero deductible, for just 74 dollars. No, I am not kidding!

It’s just 3.7% of the price of your laptop. I dare you to find insurance for laptops anywhere on the net at a better price. I can save you some time and tell you that you won’t even come close.

Not enough to convince you? How about this: You can ad any cell phone or smart phone to your laptop policy, iphones excluded, for just 10 dollars. TEN. That sells for up to 69 dollars separately.

I hate to sound like one of those 19.95 TV infomercials but I’m not done yet! After you’ve purchased insurance for your laptop with Worth Ave Group, send us an email with your policy number and we will send you a free copy of our laptop tracking software. If your laptop gets stolen, you’ll know right where to find it!

If you’re a business, call and ask about our corporate insurance for laptops. 41% of all laptops are stolen from the office so insurance all of your business laptops is a great idea. Insuring them and adding our free laptop tracking software is even better!

What are you waiting for?

Get insurance for your laptop now

Up until 10 years ago our computer ownership/usage was not that common. Our cell phones looked like a Zach Morrison’s phone in Saved by The Bell and we probably carried it in a bag the size of a woman’s purse. Printers and copiers were enormous and extremely expensive and you would almost never find one in a home. If you were lucky your parents had satellite TV (you remember, the dish in the back yard that you had to play around). But today we use an unbelievable amount of electronic gadgets in our homes. For example, in my own home you would find:

two desktop computers with monitors

two laptop computers

1 printer

one combination fax, scanner, copier

three TVs

1 VCR

one digital video camera with tripod for our home recording studio

two DVD players

two iphones

one satellite TV system with a 24″ dish on the roof

two ipods

You may not have that many but I know some who have even more. Electronics have boomed over the last ten years as the price for them has decreased just enough that the average Joe can afford them.

But are your electronics covered? If something happened would you be able to turn around and replace them all? There is a lot of misinformation today regarding electronics and how it is treated by insurance companies. Most people seem think their homeowners or renters insurance policies will cover their electronics. WRONG…and unfortunately they won’t usually find out their wrong until they submit a claim.

Sure, some of the property is covered, but there are limits and exclusions that would shock you! And don’t forget that your policy deductible will also apply.

The reason I bring this all up? I’ve found the solution. I have our electronics insured thru Worth Ave Group. After reading thru their site and saw that they’ll cover us against against accidental damage, fire, flood, theft and even natural disasters for a full calendar year, I was sold. They were also cheaper than the rest companies selling electronic coverage. Some of them wouldn’t insure our iPhones because they weren’t brand new, some wanted to sell me warranties instead of insurance (not a good idea) and the list goes on and on. So, anyway, check out Worth Ave Group and see what you think.

Can you imagine where we’re going to be in another 10 years?

My husband is a computer specialist and works for a state university. In order to visit him at work I have to park my car about 10 miles away (ok, not that far) and march my happy self across the campus to get to his office. I was doing just that yesterday afternoon and as I walked through the campus library (my favorite short cut) I noticed at least 6 laptops that were completely unattended.

I couldn’t believe it. When I was in college I couldn’t afford my own laptop and was forced to borrow from the library. So, I can’t imagine having my own laptop and leave it sitting at a table by itself. I mean REALLY? I realize I don’t live in Crime Central or anything but anyone with itchy fingers could have easily walked away with these laptops.

Not only did I see laptops sitting alone but in some cases these students had also left their iPods and cell phones sitting there. I couldn’t believe it. I drooled and saved up for months in order to buy my laptop and iPods and these people were trying to give them away!

Now I won’t sit here and pretend that I’ve never accidentally walked away from my prized possessions but I would never do it on purpose…at least I have my electronic insurance with Worth Ave Group. Besides covering accidental damage, fire and flood, my WAG policy covers theft. I hope those students had some kind of insurance because it’s only a matter of time…

The 10 billionth song was downloaded on iTunes yesterday. The song? “Guess Things Happen That Way” by Johnny Cash, was bought for $.99 by Louie Sulcer of Woodstock, Georgia. By winning the contest Louie is now the proud owner of a $10,000 iTunes card.

Reports say that Mr. Sulcer, a 71-year-old retired real estate broker, received a call from Steve Jobs on Wednesday and it was in fact Steve who explained to him that he had downloaded the 10 billionth song and was being given the $10,000 gift card. It has also been reported that he also received a call from Rosanne Cash, Johnny Cash’s daughter, who thanked him for purchasing one of her father’s songs. Rosanne Cash’s husband, John Leventhal, then sang the winning song to him over the phone.

I’m not sure how the 71 year old will ever use 10,000 dollars on iTunes…that is unless he has a lot of grandchildren.

I’ve always been a PC person. My last several laptops have been either a Gateway or a Dell. Now I’m in the market for a new laptop, I’m faced with the age old dilemma, Mac or Dell. After listening to friends, looking through websites and even calling both companies, it comes down to what you’re use to and the $$$ you want to spend. Money is everything and I want to get the most bang for my buck.

I need something small and compact, but with some POWER behind it that will actually last. Comparing apples to apples (pun intended) the size, hard-drives and processors are similar, but it looks like the Dell would be a better deal as it has more memory for less money, which is good, right?

One problem I’m struggling with… Dell isn’t the most reliable work horse out there anymore. I spend hours a day on my laptop, typing documents, putting together spreadsheets and even making power point presentations for work at times. Most hard-working Dells have to be replaced or at least reconfigured every 2-3 years, which means down time while this is happening. I know people who have had Macs for 3, 4 and even 5 years, had no problems and would never dream of owning anything else.

After looking at the two options I have researched, I’m still at a loss but leaning towards the Mac.

Dell has introduced their new business notebook! The Dell Latitude 13 is one of the world’s thinnest 13-inch commercial laptops at 0.65-inches thick. With its 13.3 screen, remote management, security features and a virtualization ready design (it’ll work with Citrix and VMware), the Dell Latitude 12 seems to have been designed with portability in mind.

Although the rest of the specifications cannot be confirmed…the Dell Latitude 13 is widely expected to be similar to the Vostro V13 with up to 4GB Ram, webcam, Windows 7, six-cell battery and a choice of Intel ULV processors.

The Dell Latitude 13 should be available in late February or early March.

Apple is green as they now have a recycling program. (Well, they may have had it for a really long time but I just realized it…thus making it new to me.)

Here are 5 different ways Apple is helping our planet:

Manufacturing – By making their products smaller, Apple is able to use fewer materials when building their items. They even take into consideration the paper and ink it takes to ship their items.

Transportation – By packing more efficiently they are able to reduce the emissions created during transit.

Product Use – By making their products energy efficient, Apple products produce as little of greenhouse gas emissions as possible.

Recycling – By starting recycling programs in 95 of the countries where their products are sold, using materials that are valuable to recyclers like arsenic-free glass, high-grade aluminum, and strong polycarbonate and the fact that all the e-waste that is collected by Apple is processed in the region in which it was collected (none of it is shipped overseas for disposal). Apple’s products are designed to be compact and efficient as possible.

Facilities – By installing energy efficient lighting with automatic shutoffs, they have significantly reduced their energy use. They also offer free rides to work on Apple’s commuter bus, saving 7.2 metric tons of CO2e emissions five days a week.

When you buy a new computer from Apple they’ll recycle your old system for free. Their site states that after buying a qualifying system from an Apple store, one of their specialists will sign you up to receive a prepaid FedEx shipping authorization for your old system.

Even if you don’t buy a new system (or live in Canada where there are no Apple Stores) but would still like to recycle your old Apple product, you can still do so for free. They won’t send you a FedEx box BUT they will cover the $30 shipping fee. And the last but not least…Apple will also take your old Mac batteries if you take them to one of their store.
